Mid-America Science Museum Renovation & Addition

The winner of seven design awards, including the AIA Arkansas 2015 Member’s Choice and People’s Choice Awards and an ASID Silver Medal Award, the Mid-America Science Museum renovation stands as a highlight for WD&D Architects and the client. Renovations and additions include a 10,000-square-foot “Science Skywalk,” which incorporates the natural beauty of the Ouachita Mountains and Hot Springs National Park with the museum’s mission of learning. This new icon engages visitors in math and science observations and leads to an illuminated “tree house.” This innovative skywalk is part of a 53,000-square foot renovation of the museum, offices, cafe and classrooms. WD&D Architects partnered with international exhibit designer Exploratorium for the renovation.
