The Special Olympics Arkansas Legacy Building is a 7,500-square-foot headquarters in North Little Rock, Arkansas, designed by WDD Architects to support the organization’s statewide operations. The facility brings together administrative offices, meeting spaces, and support functions in a single, efficient building that serves staff, volunteers, and athletes.
At the center of the building is Champion’s Hall, a flexible gathering space used for meetings, events, and volunteer activities. A Legacy Wall recognizes donor support and the organization’s impact. Supporting spaces include conference and meeting rooms, private offices, open work areas, and a warehouse with dual overhead doors for equipment storage and distribution throughout the state.
The design concept is based on movement, reflecting the energy and determination of Special Olympics athletes. Inside, custom ceiling baffles create rhythm and variation through light and shadow, while angular red elements define circulation paths and highlight key spaces within the building.
A restrained palette of black, gray, and white establishes a clear architectural framework, with red accents reinforcing identity throughout the interior and exterior. Large windows framed by angular elements bring natural light into the building and strengthen its visual presence. The result is a durable, efficient home for Special Olympics Arkansas that celebrates its mission and expands its capacity to serve athletes across the state.
