The UAMS Radiation Oncology Center (ROC) was designed to expand cancer treatment capabilities in Arkansas while supporting UAMS’s mission of clinical care, research, and medical education. Developed by WDD Architects and Tsoi Kobus Design, the 60,000-square-foot facility houses advanced radiation oncology technologies, including Arkansas’s first proton therapy treatment center. Located at the eastern entrance to the UAMS campus in Little Rock, the facility strengthens access to world-class cancer care while supporting future growth in oncology services.
Designed to support advanced cancer treatment, the facility includes four linear accelerators, a proton therapy vault, HDR brachytherapy suite, advanced imaging capabilities, and associated clinical support spaces. The building’s design responds to a challenging sloped site while efficiently integrating highly specialized treatment areas, including concrete radiation vaults and shared shielding systems. A signature exterior design establishes a prominent presence on the UAMS campus while creating a modern healthcare environment focused on patient care, innovation, and operational efficiency.
