WDD Architects designed Jim Rollins Elementary School of Innovation as the K-5 extension of Springdale Public Schools’ innovative education pathway. Developed through an interactive visioning process with district administrators, educators and the construction team, the 92,000-square-foot school supports hands-on, project-based learning through flexible spaces designed for collaboration, exploration and student engagement.

Special attention was paid to creating flexible learning environments that support the needs of students at different age levels. Classrooms are complemented by shared breakout spaces, collaborative learning areas and informal gathering spaces that extend learning beyond the traditional classroom. Open circulation areas, flexible furnishings and colorful design elements create an engaging environment that encourages exploration, interaction and hands-on learning throughout the school.
