WDD Architects designed the expansion and renovation of CHI St. Vincent’s cardiac operating facilities in Little Rock, creating four state-of-the-art cardiac operating suites, including Arkansas’s first and largest cardiac hybrid OR. Located adjacent to an existing operating room suite and two critical care units, the project required careful planning and coordination to complete a major renovation within an active hospital environment while minimizing disruption to ongoing patient care.
The project involved complete demolition and renovation of the existing space, along with new electrical and HVAC systems to support the specialized requirements of the cardiac operating suites. Infection control and maintaining hospital operations were critical throughout planning and construction. The hybrid OR integrates the capabilities of a traditional cardiac operating room with advanced imaging technology, creating a highly specialized environment designed to support complex cardiac procedures.
