WDD Architects developed a downtown planning study for the City of Jacksonville focused on revitalizing the city’s urban core and encouraging new activity and investment. The plan reimagined Main Street with a new civic square, green space and gathering areas designed to bring more people downtown and support continued business growth.

The study explored a mix of civic, commercial and residential uses to create a more active downtown environment. Recommendations included mixed-use development, residential lofts and public gathering spaces along Main Street. Portions of the plan were implemented, including development of the new Nixon Library in downtown Jacksonville.
